About the Role:
Primrose School of Mt. Juliet is looking for a passionate and nurturing School Chef to join our team and make a difference in the lives of young learners! In this role, you'll have the opportunity to create wholesome, delicious meals that fuel growing minds and bodies in a warm, welcoming daycare environment.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and serve nutritious, age-appropriate meals and snacks for daycare children daily
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards in accordance with local health regulations
- Manage kitchen inventory, including ordering supplies and minimizing food waste
- Accommodate dietary restrictions, allergies, and special nutritional needs of children
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment at all times
- Collaborate with school staff to align menus with nutritional guidelines and program schedules
Requirements:
- Previous experience in food service, institutional cooking, or school/childcare nutrition preferred
- Knowledge of child nutrition standards
- Valid food handler's permit or ServSafe certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
- Ability to manage time effectively and prepare meals for large groups efficiently
- Strong understanding of food allergies, cross-contamination prevention, and safe food handling
- Warm, caring demeanor with a genuine love for working in a child-centered environment
- Ability to pass a background check as required for childcare settings
